Chapter 05 #22

d) Chisholm Trail

The Chisholm Trail was a historic trail predominantly used for cattle drives, running from Texas to Kansas. Established by Jesse Chisholm in the late 1860s, this trail became one of the most important routes for moving Texas cattle to railheads in Kansas, from where they were shipped to markets in the East. The Chisholm Trail played a significant role in the cattle industry’s growth and the expansion of the American West. It symbolized the era of the cowboy and contributed to the myth of the Wild West.
