Chapter 05 #32

d) Battle of Little Bighorn

The Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876 was a significant event involving General George Armstrong Custer. Known as Custer’s Last Stand, this battle was part of the Great Sioux War and took place near the Little Bighorn River in Montana Territory. Custer’s 7th Cavalry was overwhelmingly defeated by a coalition of Native American tribes, including the Lakota Sioux and Cheyenne warriors. This defeat became symbolic of Native American resistance against U.S. government policies aimed at confining them to reservations and a stark reminder of the cultural conflicts of the period.
