d) Spacewar!

“Spacewar!” developed in 1962, was the first home video game, paving the way for the video game industry. Created by Steve Russell and others at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, “Spacewar!” was a space combat game for the PDP-1 minicomputer. It featured two spaceships, “the needle” and “the wedge,” engaged in a dogfight while orbiting a star. The game was influential as one of the earliest digital computer games and was widely copied and adapted. “Spacewar!” demonstrated the potential of computer-based entertainment, leading to the development of arcade games and the emergence of the commercial video game industry.
