Chapter 18 #31

c) The Dayton Accords

The Dayton Accords were a key component of U.S. intervention strategy in the Balkans conflict in the 1990s. Facilitated by the U.S., these peace agreements were signed in 1995 to end the Bosnian War, one of the most devastating conflicts in Europe since World War II. The accords outlined the framework for peace and the division of Bosnia and Herzegovina into two entities. This diplomatic initiative demonstrated the U.S.’s active role in resolving international conflicts and its commitment to peace and stability in the region. The Dayton Accords remain a significant example of successful U.S. diplomatic intervention.
