c) Popé
Popé led the Pueblo Revolt in 1680, challenging Spanish rule in New Mexico. This revolt was a significant uprising of Puebloan peoples against the Spanish colonizers, who had imposed harsh policies and practices that disrupted traditional life. Popé, a religious leader from the San Juan Pueblo, organized and united various Pueblo tribes to rise against the Spanish. The rebellion was successful in driving the Spanish out of the region for over a decade, representing one of the most successful acts of resistance by Native Americans against European colonizers. The Pueblo Revolt led by Popé is remembered as a symbol of indigenous resistance and cultural preservation.
