d) First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress, convened in Philadelphia in 1774, was a significant step towards American unity and independence. Delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies met to discuss and respond to the British Coercive Acts. This Congress marked the first time the colonies united to oppose British policy collectively. They agreed on economic sanctions and prepared a list of grievances, asserting their rights as British subjects. The First Continental Congress laid the groundwork for future revolutionary actions and was instrumental in shaping the early American political identity and resistance to British rule.
