b) Liberty caps

Peculiar yet symbolic, Liberty caps became an emblem of American defiance against the Stamp Act. These caps, also known as Phrygian caps, were associated with freedom and the pursuit of liberty since ancient times. American colonists adopted this symbol during protests against the Stamp Act, a British law that imposed taxes on paper goods. Wearing Liberty caps became a way to visually express opposition to British tyranny and to unite colonists in their fight for independence.
