Chapter 04 #28

a) Interstate trade

The Annapolis Convention of 1786 primarily tackled issues related to interstate trade. Concerns over barriers to commerce between states under the Articles of Confederation led to this gathering. The convention’s discussions revealed broader problems with the Articles and the need for a more effective federal government. While attendance at the Annapolis Convention was low, it set the stage for the subsequent Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. The issues raised at Annapolis were instrumental in shaping the commerce and trade provisions of the U.S. Constitution.
