Chapter 05 #27

c) Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872, holds the distinction of being the first national park in the United States. Located primarily in Wyoming, it extends into Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone was designated a national park to preserve its extraordinary geysers, hot springs, and other geothermal features, as well as its remarkable wildlife and rugged beauty. The establishment of Yellowstone set a precedent for the conservation of the nation’s natural treasures, leading to the creation of a national park system that preserves and protects natural and cultural resources for future generations.
