Chapter 10 #17

b) Proxy Wars

During the Cold War, “Proxy Wars” became a term used to describe the indirect conflicts between the superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union. Rather than engaging in direct military confrontation, both nations influenced and supported opposing sides in regional conflicts around the world, such as in Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. These proxy wars were fueled by ideological, political, and military interests, and significantly shaped global politics, contributing to the complexity and danger of the Cold War era.
